What was Judea?

Definition:

Judea: An ancient term for the region of southern Palestine that is now divided between southern Israel and southwest Jordan.

Judea existed as a unique political entity under occupation by the Persian, Greek and Roman Empires in ancient times.

Pronunciation: "joo-DEE-ah"
Alternate Spellings: Judaea
Examples:

"During the lifetime of Jesus, Judea was part of Roman Syria."
